Make every shared link look intentional.
Fill in a title, description and image, and get the Open Graph and Twitter card tags that control how your page looks on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp and Slack, with a live preview card.
Link preview
Your tags
The preview approximates a Facebook-style card; each platform crops and trims a little differently. After publishing, social platforms cache previews, so re-scrape the URL in their sharing debugger if an old image keeps showing.
Control the card,
not just the link
When a page is shared without Open Graph tags, each platform guesses the title and grabs whatever image it finds. These tags decide what people actually see.
Every core OG tag
og:title, og:description, og:url, og:type, og:site_name and og:image with its size and alt text.
Twitter / X cards
Matching twitter:card, title, description and image tags. With an image it uses the large-image card automatically.
Live preview card
See the title, description, domain and image together, roughly as a Facebook or LinkedIn card shows them.
Right image size
Width and height tags for the 1200 × 630 image size most platforms recommend, so previews render at full width.
Safe escaping
Quotes and ampersands in your titles are escaped so a headline with punctuation cannot break the tag.
Works with any site
Paste the tags into your page head or copy the values into your SEO plugin’s social settings.
How to use the Open Graph generator
- Write an og:title and og:description for sharing. They can be more conversational than your search title.
- Add the page URL and a share image, ideally 1200 × 630 pixels.
- Check the preview card, then copy the tags into the <head> of the page.
- After publishing, run the URL through each platform’s sharing debugger to refresh any cached preview.
What Open Graph tags do
Open Graph is a protocol originally created by Facebook that lets a page describe itself to social platforms. Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord and many others read these tags to build link previews. X reads its own twitter: tags first and falls back to Open Graph.
They are not a Google ranking factor. Their value is in clicks from social and messaging apps: a shared link with a clear title and a strong image gets opened far more often than a bare URL.
The share image matters most
Use a 1200 × 630 pixel image (a 1.91:1 ratio) and keep text large and central, because some apps crop the edges. Use an absolute https URL; relative paths often fail.
Write for the feed, not the search box
Your og:title does not have to match your title tag. Search titles lead with the keyword; social titles can lead with the hook.
Clear the cache after changes
Platforms store a preview the first time a link is shared. If you change the image and the old one keeps appearing, re-scrape the URL in the platform’s debugger.
Setting up search tags as well? The meta tag generator outputs title, description, canonical and robots tags in one block.
Frequently asked questions
What size should an Open Graph image be?
1200 × 630 pixels is the widely recommended size. It displays sharply on Facebook, LinkedIn and X large-image cards. Keep the file under a few megabytes and use JPG or PNG.
Do Open Graph tags help SEO?
Not directly; Google does not use them as a ranking factor. They improve how links look when shared on social and messaging apps, which can bring more clicks and visibility.
Why is Facebook or LinkedIn showing an old image?
Platforms cache link previews. Open the platform’s sharing or post inspector tool, paste the URL and ask it to scrape the page again.
What is the difference between og: tags and twitter: tags?
og: tags are the Open Graph standard used by most platforms. twitter: tags are specific to X. X falls back to Open Graph when twitter: tags are missing, but twitter:card must be set to choose the card style.
