Bio Generator — free, runs in your browser

Bios appear instantly and are written in your browser. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere unless you press Sharpen with AI.

Your bios

Everything a bio
has to do.

A visitor gives your profile a few seconds. In 150 characters your bio has to say who you are, who it is for, why to trust you and what to do next.

Who, for whom, what result

Every bio leads with your role, your audience and the outcome you deliver, the three things a visitor scans for first.

Built to the 150-character cap

Each bio shows a live character count and flags anything over the limit before you paste it into Instagram.

One call to action, matched to your goal

Choose followers, link clicks, DMs, sales or bookings, and every bio ends with a CTA written for that single goal.

Name field ideas that get found

Instagram search reads your Name field, not your bio. You get keyword Name ideas under 64 characters to pair with it.

ReelsCarouselsPhotosStories

Works for every post type

Short for a Reel, longer for a carousel, story-shaped for a photo. Pick a length and the structure adapts rather than padding itself out.

Nothing between you and the caption

It runs in your browser. Captions appear instantly, nothing is stored, and you can regenerate as many times as you like.

How to use the Instagram bio generator

  1. Say what you do in plain words. “Fitness coach” beats “wellness enthusiast and lifelong learner”. Use the words people would type to find someone like you.
  2. Name who it is for. “Busy working moms” or “first-time founders”. A bio that speaks to one group converts better than one that speaks to everyone.
  3. Write the result, not the process. “Get strong in 20 minutes a day” tells a visitor what they get. “Custom programming” does not.
  4. Add one piece of proof if you have it. A number, a credential or a well-known client. Leave it blank rather than inventing one.
  5. Pick the one goal your profile serves. Followers, link clicks, DMs, sales or bookings. Every bio ends with a call to action written for that goal.
  6. Generate, copy, paste. Each bio shows its character count against Instagram’s 150 limit. Press Sharpen with AI for three extra rewrites if you want a different voice.

Paste the bio into Instagram under Edit profile, then Bio. Line breaks copy across as they appear in the preview.

What makes a good Instagram bio

A profile visitor decides to follow or leave in a few seconds. In that time they read your name, the first line or two of your bio and your top three grid posts. The bio’s job is to answer four questions fast: who are you, who is this for, why should I trust you, and what should I do next.

1. You only get 150 characters

Instagram caps the bio at 150 characters, and emojis count (some count as two). That is roughly two short sentences. Every word has to earn its place, which is why the generator drops filler like “welcome to my page” and “just a girl who”.

2. Your Name field is searchable, your bio mostly is not

Instagram search matches on your username and the Name field, which allows 64 characters. Adding a keyword there, such as “Priya | Fitness Coach”, helps people find you when they search “fitness coach”. Keywords buried in the bio do far less for search. That is why the tool gives you Name field ideas alongside each bio.

3. Lead with the outcome for the reader

“I help busy moms get strong in 20 minutes a day” is about the visitor. “Mom of 2, gym lover, coffee addict” is about you. Personal details work as a second line once the value is clear, not as the opener.

4. End with one call to action

If you want DMs, say which word to send. If you want link clicks, point at the link. A bio that asks for follows, clicks and DMs at once usually gets none of them. Instagram now lets you add up to five links, so put your most important one first.

5. Use line breaks and emojis as structure

Stacked short lines scan faster than one paragraph. Emojis work best as bullet points at the start of a line, not scattered through the middle. If your brand is formal, switch emojis off and the tool writes plain-text bios.

Instagram bio formulas you can reuse

These are the six structures the generator uses. You can fill them by hand too.

Who + result

[Role] helping [audience] [result] / [proof] / [CTA]. The safest default for coaches, freelancers and service businesses.

Stacked lines

[Role] / [result] / [proof] / [CTA]. Easy to scan on mobile and works in almost every niche.

Minimal

[Role] for [audience]. [Result]. [CTA]. Good for brands and anyone who wants a clean, emoji-free profile.

Proof first

[Proof] | [Role] / I help [audience] [result] / [CTA]. Use it when your number or credential is your strongest hook.

Question hook

Want to [result]? / [Role] for [audience] / [CTA]. Pulls in the reader who already has the problem.

Mission

On a mission to help [audience] [result] / [proof] / [CTA]. Suits creators and founders building a personal brand.

Frequently asked questions

How many characters can an Instagram bio have?

150 characters, including spaces, line breaks and emojis. The generator counts every bio and flags any that run over so you can trim before pasting.

Is this Instagram bio generator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit. The six instant bios are written in your browser. The optional Sharpen with AI button sends your inputs to a free public AI service to write three more versions.

Does my bio help me show up in Instagram search?

Only a little. Instagram search leans on your username and your Name field. Put your main keyword in the Name field, up to 64 characters, and use the bio to convert the people who land on your profile.

Should I use emojis in my Instagram bio?

Use them as line markers if they fit your brand, one per line at most. They make a bio easier to scan. Switch them off in the tool for a professional or corporate account.

How often should I change my Instagram bio?

Whenever your offer or goal changes, such as a launch, a new freebie or a new service. Otherwise keep it stable so returning visitors recognise you, and test one change at a time.
